Busy Fingers

Busy Fingers is the prayer shawl ministry of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. We meet every Saturday morning at 9:30 at the church to work on our shawls, have time for prayer, share news of those who will receive our shawls, share knitting or crocheting tricks/ techniques, and have fellowship. We have additional members who are unable to attend our gatherings, however create shawls and blankets on their own.

We create not only prayer shawls but also baby blankets. Both begin with prayers and blessings for the recipient (known or not). Any pattern may be used for knitting or crocheting. Many of our shawls are based on a simple pattern that incorporates a pattern of three (For Father, Son and Holy Ghost.) The pattern is available on-line and was devised by Janet Bristow and Victoria Galo, the founders of the original prayer shawl ministry (www.shawlministry.com).

When the shawl is completed, we give the congregation an opportunity to add their prayers and blessings.

We provide a blanket for each baby baptized at Holy Trinity. Prayer shawls will be given to those undergoing medical procedures; as a comfort after a loss or in times of stress; during bereavement; during an illness and recovery; or ministering to others.
