We have been blessed in our thirty six years since the Rev. Gordon Hite, mission developer of Lutheran Church in America, brought
together the first Lutheran Church in Loudoun since the 1765 founding of New Jerusalem Lutheran Parish in Lovettsville. Our first
worship service was on Holy Trinity Sunday, June 13, 1965 at the old Leesburg Elementary School on North Street (now the School Annex).
Five months later on November 21, Holy Trinity was chartered with 144 members (56 were children).
Our current three acre site was purchased by the Mission Board in 1966. Designs determined, construction began and four days before
Christmas 1969, we left the schoolhouse and worshipped for the first time in our church. We paved the parking lot, bought an organ and in 1982,
the congregation was asked once again to accommodate our growing church, and funds were raised to build the Education Wing - all to
accommodate change
and growth at Holy Trinity.
January 1, 1988 marked the largest merger of Lutheran churches as Holy Trinity became a member of the new Evangelical Lutheran Church in America -
the Metropolitan Washington, DC Synod.
More than 1500 people have called Holy Trinity "home." Four of our "sons" have entered the ministry.
Seven pastors accepted our call. Our work has been carried through by willing volunteers on Congregation Council and our nine standing committees.
As we have entered the new century, we look at the future challenges and opportunities with faith in God and fervent love towards one another.
Because God tells us that our history is HIS STORY.
